What does a coach do?
This answer is covered in more detail on the following pages, but generally you will use a coach when you have issues you want to resolve, or when you want to change direction.
Usually you will contact a transitional coach when things change: you retire or lose your job; your partner has just walked out, you have a new baby or your last child has just left home. Maybe you want to give up smoking or change your lifestyle?
Sue Taylor, your coach, will talk you through your issues or concerns and will ask you questions that will focus your mind forwards, rather than concentrating on what led up the situation you now find yourself in. In every session you will set goals and will commit to them.
People who are coached say that coaching saves them time and money because their goals are reached so quickly. Businesses grow, relationships thrive and people develop new careers or other interests.
The key to a successful coaching relationship has to be the client's willingness to try new things and to commit to actions which are then followed through.
An example how this works: you say you will give up chocolate. That is a commitment you will want to keep, especially as you know that Sue will question you about it when you next speak. There is something about making commitments with other people - you are more likely to keep them than if you tried in secret to change old habits.
This is the same philosophy that is used by groups such as Weight Watchers - you will not want want to admit to anyone, let alone Sue, that you have failed to reach your target or goal. So, if you lack motivation this is a way to achieve where other methods have failed.

Coaching is usually by phone, but email or face-to-face, is possible. Sessions are usually once every two weeks.
